AMES Iowa  — Is beef production in your future? Whether you're new to beef production or perhaps a dairy producer considering adding or transitioning to cow-calf production, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension has a great opportunity for you. Iowa State University extension beef specialist Denise Schwab said the Beef Cow-Calf School for Beginners is a good option for anyone wanting to learn more about the beef business.

"Our colleagues at Wisconsin have put together this five-part online series focusing on vital topics from necessary veterinary skills to meeting cow-calf nutritional needs," she said. "The sessions are free, which makes it even better."

Sessions are set for March 19, March 21, March 26, April 2 and April 4, and all will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sessions will be recorded and those recordings and other resources will be available to registrants. A follow-up field day at a beef operation is planned later this year, and there may be a fee for that.

Although registration for the school is free, class size is limited and people must register online at  https://go.wisc.edu/6fr1x7 by March 11. All communications including providing course materials will be done through the email address provided during registration. For help with registration or other questions, please call  715-748-3327, ext. 1.
