Garland Dahlke, ISU research scientist
This coming November 10 and 11 Iowa State University will be hosting the Applied Reproductive Strategies in Beef Cattle in Des Moines at the Holiday Inn Des Moines-Airport Conference Center. This annual meeting has always dealt with and will remain consistent with presenting the sound fundamentals of getting cattle bred. Adding to this, this year a review of the current technology from the dairy industry and how this may apply in the future to the beef industry will be discussed by Dr. Ronaldo Cerri from the University of Columbia. Likewise, the long-time familiar face in the area of cattle lameness and foot health Dr. Jan Shearer Professor Emeritus has been pulled out of retirement for this event to provide sage advice regarding foot health and effects on fertility. The goal of the conference is to not only present the data but to provide an environment to further facilitate one on one interactions between attendees and presenters allowing more in depth discussions when needed.
