MAQUOKETA, Iowa – Are you wondering how cover crops might fit into your cattle operation? Or whether cover crops can help with conservation efforts? Iowa State University extension beef specialist Denise Schwab said the Jackson County office of ISU Extension and Outreach is planning an event to provide information on those questions and more.
"The 3 C's - Cattle, Conservation, and Cover Crops program features events in these three areas," she said. "Regardless of your interest or experience level, there will be value for all."
The program is set for June 19, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Jackson County Extension Office, 1102 E Quarry St., Maquoketa.
"Learn how to implement cover crops in your land management and grazing practices," Schwab said. "Join a panel discussion featuring local landowners and livestock producers who will share their experiences with cover crops on their operations. You'll also learn about potential cost-sharing opportunities."
Schwab will be joined by presenters ISU extension conservation specialist Ethan Thies and Michelle Turner with Limestone Bluffs RC&D and Jackson SWCD. Thanks to sponsors Karl Dallefeld with Byron Seeds, and Welter Seed and Honey Co., the event is provided free of charge.
To register or for any questions, call the Jackson County Extension Office at 563-652-4923 or email hmaier@iastate.edu.
