Northeast Iowa hay equipment demo day is June 23.

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, in partnership with Northeast Iowa Community College, is hosting an equipment demonstration field day June 23, focusing on hay equipment.

The event will be held at the NICC Dairy Center, 1527 Hwy 150, Calmar, and will feature different haying equipment throughout day. Industry representatives from northeast Iowa will be there to showcase the equipment and provide real-time demonstrations.

ISU extension forage specialist Shelby Gruss will lead a general session during the provided lunch, covering topics of forage selection, fertilization, and harvesting. ISU extension field agronomists and beef specialists will be available to visit with attendees and address production questions throughout the program.

Field agronomist Josh Michel said bringing a demonstration component to the NICC Dairy Center is a unique way for ISU Extension and Outreach to showcase equipment options for hay producers in the area.

“We are excited to create an opportunity for interactive learning between Iowa State University and Northeast Community College," he said. "The event will also facilitate some interaction between producers and industry representatives, which should benefit everyone.”

The day begins with demonstration sessions starting at 10 a.m. and runs through 4 p.m. A free lunch will be provided. Preregistration by June 20 is strongly encouraged. On-site registration the day of the event will be available.
