Dallas County reproduction workshop to feature new AI model
4/29/26
ADEL, Iowa — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will offer an exciting educational opportunity for beef cattle producers in May. The Beef Cattle Reproduction Workshop, hosted by Dallas County and Boone County Extension, is set for May 13 at the Dallas County Extension Office, 28061 Fairground Road, Adel. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and features new technology.
ISU extension beef specialist Chris Clark said the program will highlight hands-on learning with a new artificial insemination (AI) model.
“Our state cow-calf specialist, Randie Culbertson, will discuss best AI techniques and facilitate some practice with those techniques using our new AI model," he said.
Curriculum will also include discussion of when to consider the use of AI, estrus synchronization, the Estrus Synchronization Planner, and reproductive benchmarks. The program is designed to help attendees optimize reproductive efficiency to support greater productivity and profitability.
Clark said space is limited and encourages people to register early to secure a spot. “The small audience and opportunity for hands-on exercises and discussion should create a really good learning environment.”
Registration fee is $20 and may be paid at the door. Preregistration by May 6 is required to support meal planning and class preparation.
